The adipose fin (especially in the bottommost picture) doesn't look like the drawing of S. multimaculatus ? The drawing has a long low adopose, where as the live fish has a medium height, short adipose fin. Also, is it possible that the live fish are actually two different species themselves? Also, ...

I've been looking for exporters of that fish for some time. I think it is a Glyptopterichthys and probably a very young one that loses that fantastic c...

Jools i understand dorsomaculatus to mean the same as you. However i would have thought that this species would also have more spots on the dorsal fin as well or does this not apply? Ichthyologists don't like going on fin patterns too much as they have a nasty habit of being bitten off, badly prese...

Is that a feeling or are there any signs to look for ? A crooked body shape, disproportionate body, eyes to fins relative sizes, concave head profile, missing or slightly short gill covers. It's hard to say and gut feeling comes into it too much I would say. Nature gives us so much variety it is of...

I suspect S. dorsomaculatus. I would have suspected S. dorsomaculatus to have more spots considering the name, Hoek Hee whatever it turns out can you still upload a picture of S. dorsomaculatus so we can all have a look? I would take dorsomaculatus to mean spots running along the back which (from o...

I'll think about it... No seriously, I'll send a few pictures which you can choose from and edit/cut as you wish - but wouldn it be smarter to wait for a possible ID ? Yes and no. I would label them Synodontis sp(x) for the time being and then change them, but I'm in no particular rush to add them ...

I've had a look into why - it's a caching / offsite access thing. To see the image type the URL to the image ( http://community.webshots.com/s/image4/0/26/70/99202670NvYZzH_fs.jpg ) into the browser address. If you just click on the link the webshots site understands what you're doing and doesn't pr...

Re: L134 - meaty foods?
Is it that the LFS is incorrect? or is there a similar hypancistrus? There are no similar fish to L134 (although L134 are very variable) and they are a species of Peckoltia, the dentition and head profile is different in Hypancistrus</...
