Re: Auchenipterichthys coracoideus (zamora woodcat) spawned
New spawn today while I was at work. It's rare for me to find woodcats spawning in daytime. I wish I were home to record it one of these days. 10 January - about 42 good eggs collected 8 day interval 18 January - about 160 good eggs collected 8 day interval 26 January - egg count not recorded :( 10 ...

Re: ...Dwarf Wabenmusters?
Hi, I've got a group of wabenmuster, all from the same breeder, maybe from the same spawn (they were about the same size when purchased, but may have been from separate spawns close together). Two of my males are huge, well over 10 cm SL. But two of my males are small like yours, about 6 cm SL. I've...

Hi Sean,
Glad your animals did well. Yes, all 14 of the baby whiptails I got survived and are doing well in my tank.
Cheers, Eric

Re: Both bought a Akysis prashadi. Are they the same species?
So, is the idea that the eggs will fall into the glass dish? Yes, there's a plastic "knitting canvas" mesh over the glass dish, with some fake plant stems and the spawning mop. Hopefully, if the fish are in the mood, they release eggs over the bowl and I catch them in the dish. Achim said...

Here's their tank setup. I settled on this after meeting Achim at the CSG meeting last week and he told me how he spawned in the early 2000's.

Re: Both bought a Akysis prashadi. Are they the same species?
I have three prashadi. Be careful moving them by hand. I've been stung twice @-) Thanks for the warning. Yeah, other people have told me the same. When I was loading these for transport, I dropped two on the floor and had to pick them up to get them back into bottles. Rather than grabbing them with...

You and your cryptic catfishes! ;-) -Shane Lol. I guess I'm too untrusting of exporter/importer IDs. 🤣 I imagine the tail pattern differences might be normal variation but might also be exaggerated by how widespread the fish hold their tails when I photograph them. 20240323_171743~2.jpg Having said...

Both bought a Akysis prashadi. Are they the same species?
Hi All, At the CSG convention, with the help of @Catfish-ologist, I got 10 Akysis prashadi from Aqualife Leyland. I'm seeing subtle differences among individuals in caudal fin shape and the patterns of white colored spots along the flanks of the body . Also, some have a pale mottled head and predors...

Re: 2 leopard frog's in same cave
Hi jd_7655, Where do you go from here? I'd say just leave them alone for now. If you have a male and female in the cave (vs. two males fighting for the cave), they will either lay eggs or break up... if the latter, then you know they're at least slightly interested, so be patient. If they haven't la...

Re: Auchenipterichthys coracoideus (zamora woodcat) spawned
I didn't find even one good unhatched egg in tank. These new bad eggs are therefore at least 5 days old, which narrows the possible spawning date to 09-13 March: 10 January - about 42 good eggs collected 8 day interval 18 January - about 160 good eggs collected 8 day interval 26 January - egg count ...

Re: Auchenipterichthys coracoideus (zamora woodcat) spawned
On Monday, 18 March I got home from an amazing 11-day whirlwind trip to Scotland and England. Personal details will be left out here, but I had a great time seeing everyone and attending the CSG convention. There were no new eggs on 08 March when I left, but when I got home, I found a bunch of fungu...

Re: Fry Rearing Method for Angelfish
Thanks for sharing. I'm curious. Do the angelfish eggs hatch in chlorinated water? Since the eggs don't all hatch at once, do the early wigglers get harmed by the chlorine while waiting for the later eggs to hatch?

Thanks for the update TTA. You've done a wonderful job over the years curating your lines, not allowing hybrids to spread as real fish, etc. You've been a resource for so many hobbyists. The first two photos shown are blurry, but the lack of odontodes might indicate females if mature. Last two photos show odontodes, so I lean towards males for those fish.
