Re: Breeding tank size
Agree with Nabobmob1, I tried for 6 months to spawn a group of 15 habrosus in a 15G tank and wouldn't do anything. Moved them to my 75G nano community (all small biggest fish is panda Cory and neon daisy ricefish) and the population tripled with a month. My black schultzeis will only spawn if I tran...

Re: Large blister on upside down catfish
I've had something similar happen to a few corydoras. Looked like a gas bubble and turned out to be I was feeding them to high a protein diet. At the time I was feeding straight NLS thera community flakes, I switched them to a spirulina/veggie flake as a staple with a bit of the theta flakes mixed i...

Re: 100 Gallon Community
I have 3 angelfish with German Blue Rams, I find they do well together. No aggression between them and there is plenty of hiding spots. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 2 I meant when mixed with gouramis and African cichlids. If it was myself I'd rehome the lab and the kennyi and just watch for...

Re: 100 Gallon Community
I would not recommend angels and bolivian rams with this mix as water chemistry and aggression levels. Bolivians and angels need softer water and lower ph than your kennyi and lab. Bolivians are extremely docile, my sterbai corys bully them out for food. The 2 Africans and the gouramis as well will ...

Re: will neons eat my king tiger eggs?
Currently none with my tank set ups ATM kept quite a few but found them to nippy, a few chunks out my twigs and rehomed them. The ones that didn't nip tended to eat eggs/fry. The few that didn't bother anything I found were Embers, Galaxy,Emerald, Kubotai, Brigittae and strangely enough Endler guppi...

Re: will neons eat my king tiger eggs?
I'm a fan of little fish in a big tank too lol. In my 75G I have Threadfins rainbows, neon daisy rice fish, sparkling gouramis, and pseudomugil gertrudae as well multiplying habrosus corys. These might be a good mix for your tank as they never seem to bother my cory fry and do like a bit of current.

Re: Deformed Mouth on Cory Cat?
I'd sand the edges on the slate to round off and remove the Texas holey rock as these are the most likely causes. Put the fish in quarantine, and start a regime of daily small water changes and melafix/pimafix. Do one week of the melafix then one of the pimafix. Add extra aeration to the tank, a few...

Re: Deformed Mouth on Cory Cat?
What type of substrate do you have? Is there rough rocks in the tank like lace rock? This looks similiar to what my first albinos would have when I kept them on gravel. They basically wore off their barbels and "noses" digging and would end up passing away from the wounds.

Re: What Corys do I have? I need to move them on.
If your pea offers are attacking your other fish, this is a sign IMO your tank is A)overcrowded or B) they are hungry. I would suggest supplementing their diet with bloodworms and another suggestion to trade in excess fish to your local fish store rather than flushing relatively healthy fish. I keep...

Re: corydoras and gravel/sand
I'm not one of the Germans but IME yes they are dumb enough to wear off their barbels and even snout by constantly digging in the substrate. When I first got into the hobby I kept albinos, aenus and peppered with many casualitys to them rubbing themselves completely raw on gravel. This was back when...

Try these guys I've ordered from them before and they have good stock.
http://www.canadianqualityguppies.com
They're out of Port Dover so shipping cost shouldn't be too much. They're website isn't always up to date so might have to email to double check their cory availability.

Which province in Canada? I'm in Alberta and live near Edmonton so I get lucky to have access to our local aquarium club auctions and a few decent stores. There are several good breeders in B.C and Ontario if you can find them

Re: Sterbai Sexing
If you have an old margarine tub or even a Tupperware sandwich container that you could (wider being optimum) drill a hole or two on the side and use suction cups to attach to the side of the tank so it floats on top of the water would work better as gravel could squish them and makes difficult to c...

Black schultzei, brochis Splendens, hastatus, skunk, kronei, sterbai, reticulated, green laser, Duplicareous, Melatonaeia, pygmy, habrosus, panda and 2 more species that were supposed to be CW049/051 but aren't. I use frozen blood worms/tubifex/mysis/brineshrimp/baby brine shrimp.

Re: Cory Cat Dilemma
I've found the shrimp pellets a bit messy myself but they do love it. I feed mine a staple of hikari veggie flakes mixed with spirulina, NLS community pellets and if I'm fattening them up for breeding I feed frozen blood worms every other day as well. Just a few ideas for you good luck.

Re: Corydoras semiaquilis or something equally fun?
On a sad note, Ian (as always) was right. I'm down to 2 from 7 and considering the torn fins on the corpses I know what happened but strangely all aggression is conspecific. The brochis and a few miscellaneous corys in there not even touched. I'm hoping the 2 left are a pair.

The pygmy are just as gorgeous, and a great number to go with. And yes the previous works for albinos or just about any cory. Soon you'll find yourself losing time as you watch the tank lol I know I do. Happy fish keeping

As long as they are active, fat and not breathing rapidly you'll see it. They'll be out in the open and playing.

Re: please help me some questions
Albinos tend to be C. Aeneus (bronze) and the females get around 3" with the males being a bit smaller. These don't school as much and can be quite happy I have found in a group of 2-3, plus they tend to wink (look down then up really quick).

It is your choice but I found when kept in groups less than 5/6 they were very shy and hid all the time.

Re: please help me some questions
A mature female can hit the 2" mark, but most males I've seen or owned have stayed around the 1.5" size. I have kept a school in a 5G and as a rule of thumb myself have always over filtered. I had used a sponge filter that was good for a 30G tank but the sponge shape was more tall than wid...

Re: please help me some questions
In a 5G I would say go for the pandas, in a group of 5 and just keep up your maintence. I will say mine absolutely adore plants and I have found them more active with it in the tank. Constantly nuzzling the swords and crypts I have.

Re: upgrading tank and moving fish
I can't foresee an issue I usually take old media or an established sponge filter from a healthy tank to cycle a new one within an hour. Just don't clean your filters let them run on the new tank for an hour or two than transfer the fish. I wouldn't bother with the methyl blue dip at all, if anythin...

Re: please help me some questions
As long as you keep your maintence up as the little ones do need good water quality I would say could fit 6-8 in there depending on your decor. I would suggest if you could fit it as I don't see if this is a longer style tank (which would be great) or a high tank a small piece of driftwood like rose...
