Re: What woodcats are being bred by pc members?
Hi All, Im Keeping: Tatia intermedia Tatia gyrina Trachelyichthys exilis I have bred T. intermedia approx 10 times and I've sold plenty of fry, and usually get survival rates in the 20-40% rate, like others have mentioned. I have figured out how to get hatch rates close to 90%, but then getting them...

Re: Starting a fishroom
I've always liked pictus, great fish when kept in a group, and yours look really healthy. If it were me, Id remove about 50% of the large caves to make much more room for them to swim and then add a couple of branches to the tank to make it a little more natural.
Great tank and project.

Hi,
Mine are quite different, which I think means that they are adult colouration, is that correct?
They are more orange than you see in the picture and I think are 2 male and 3 female.

Thank you for posting this, very interesting reading. I have 6 that Ive been keeping for a few months now and they have settled in nicely. Interesting that they reference that eat small fish in the wild. I can say that, at least in my tank, they dont! I have a couple guppies in there for dither fish...

Re: Which Auchenipterids are being kept by PC members?
Hello,
I thought that I would resurrect this topic as I am now keeping 3 sp.
1. . Breeding group, many spawns
2. New group 5 (2M, 3F)
3. New group (2M, 4F)
Any input on breeding the gyrina or T.exilis?
Thanks

Im not expert, but they look closest to Panda to me by the faint markings. They don't have any trace of the saddle that cw051 would have that I can see.

Hello,
I dont claim to be an expert, but when I look at this picture, I think that we have the male/female reversed:

Looks to me like the male is on the left?
Can anyone comment?
Thanks

Hi all, I have a group of 5 T. Intermedia which look to me like 2 males and 3 females. Over the last 12-18months I have had mixed success raising the fry. Congratulations on getting to the stage of having fry that have hatched. I have raised a couple of batches of these and they are fun! If it were me I would leave the egg mass in there for a couple more days and they will become free swimming and at that stage I would remove any remnants of the eggs....

Re: T. Intermedia woodcats
I feed heavily with frozen Blood worms, NLS cichlid pellets, Freeze dried tubiflex worms etc, and you will see the females fill with eggs. I also observe more chasing between my group and then start with water changes. I change about 20-25% per day for about 1 week and then spawning usually occurs. ...

Great looking fish. I have had about 6 batches of lots of eggs from mine in the last 12 months and they are really fun. I have sold a bunch locally and have around 30 fry at the moment in a 20G long and feeding time is truly a frenzy. Good luck with them.

Re: My woodcats finally spawned!!!
Hi, I have bred them a few times earlier this year and once they start to spawn, it is difficult to stop them! I remove the eggs and put them in an egg basket and once they hatch and are free swimming, then feed them very small floating food. I have added a breeding report and a couple videos of the...

Re: New Cory eggs while out of town (hybrid)!
My Tatia Intermedia just laid eggs 3 weeks ago and these look just the same! They look to be in a cluster, almost like frogs eggs.
They should hatch in 3-4 days and then be free swimming 3-4 days after that.
Good luck with them.
