What do you guys feed your pleco that's kind of different and that my cichlids won't touch? Is there anything?

Okay, great. Now that we have that cleared up, what kind of plecos do you have? What species? Are they primarily wood eaters? algae eaters? meaty omnivores? That makes a big difference.

I have a bristlenose pleco housed with african cichlids. He usually eats the algae in the tank or leftover flake that falls down to the bottom but I'm worried he's not getting enough to eat. Anything I try to throw in there for him to eat the cichlids just devour it before he even knows it's in the tank. So I'm looking for your guys's suggestions on various food items and eventually see which ones my cichlids won't touch.

Have you tried courgette, red pepper, spinach, broccoli stalk, sweet potato, wood?

I'm picking up wood next time I go out but I have never tried any of those. I will have to try them and see if my cichlids leave them alone

Most will need weighting down, use a teaspoon or buy a 'screwcumber'.

I feed my bristlenose cucumbers, zuchini, peas, sweet potato, red peppers, and melon. I have algae clips that I use to attach to food to the side of the tank. The sweet potato and peas naturally sink though. I would also be inclined to believe that most fish would lose interest in a large algae wafer dropped in the tank(?), however I do not have large aggressive cichlids. My biggest problem is two rotund Gold Barbs that swallow everything I throw in that particular tank, except for the large algae wafers.

I also keep driftwood in all my tanks.
