Corydoras species

Post by Cory-headache »

Hey guys,
Here's my last mystery catfish from last week's visit to the store.
A species of cory that has many similar-looking possibilities. Again, no location available.
C. nanus? elegans? CW044? napoensis?

Thanks in advance!

I don't think elegans or napoensis. It does look like nanus but I'm not sure.

Your fish bears a nice resemblance to , but unless your fish store is getting shipments from around Suriname, that ID is almost certainly wrong. In the United States, most of the corys like this are coming from Colombia and Peru.

Without catch location info, an accurate ID is almost impossible. I suspect the most likely ID is .

Thank you both! The fish in the picture below was in a different tank in the same store, I guess that one is most likely to be C. elegans as well then?

To me this latter fish looks more like a true Corydoras elegans.

Any others in the tank?

Cheers, Eric

Hi,

although the colouration reminds a bit of C. nanus, the probability to find this species in the pet trade by chance is zero.

Best regards,
Karsten
