"Tiger otocinclus"?

Post by benny »

Hi guys,

It's me again with another unidentified catfish!

Image

Just got this fish yesterday and it's about 1 cm long. I recall seeing the Japanese calling this fish "tiger oto" even though the scientific name is not "Otocinclus". Any idea on the scientific name so that I can find out more about it?

Thanks!!

Cheers,
T

I've seen them labeled as Parotocinclus Sp. "Rio Tigre".

btw: according to Hans-Georg Evers and Ingo Seidel in Mergus Wels Atlas:
Maximum size is: 2.5 cm - one of the shortest Parotocinclus.
Temp: 25-28 C
