What kind is this?
What kind is this?
Went to the local fish store for an algae eater and bought two of these for $6 each. They are extremely small only about an inch long total and have white edges on dorsal and caudal fins. My tank is only 12 gallons so I want to figure out how big they will become.

They get about 4" long and they are when bigger a little territorial but nothing major.
As they get bigger if they develop bristles on the nose they are male if non female. If you find yourself with a male and female combo I suggest you separate them as they breed large broods that are a challenge to care for and home.

I do believe it is your normal bristlenose pleco and they love cucumber and zucinni .... Boil it for about 15 min Prior to putting in tank to help it sink

Alternatively you can freeze it and toss it in frozen as it thaws it will sink.

I've heard that it's always better to defrost frozen food before adding to the tank. Fish aren't good at feeling temperature, so they can end up eating the food while it's still frozen which is harmful to their insides and can even kill them.

Hmmm, I have never had a problem, but can certainly pull the food out and let it thaw first. Thanks for the tip.Mol_PMB wrote:I've heard that it's always better to defrost frozen food before adding to the tank.
