P. pardalis?

Post by Peixes »

Hi, a friend gave me this fish as it was to big for his tank. My guess is but I’m not so sure. Any ideas?

I would have said yes, although I'm thrown off by the fact that your abdominal spots are the reverse color pattern of the pardalis I'm used to seeing (dark spots on a pale background).

Hopefully someone else knows more.

Good luck, Eric

I think it is due to the mentioned white on dark pattern.

Hi Eric, the abdominal spots were the first thing I noticed that made me doubt that it was not P. pardalis. The second was the fin spots, there are some on the fin spine, but on the fin rays they are practically absent. It is almost like the fins are black and the fin rays are white.

So, after looking more pictures of , and seeing black fins and white fin rays, I think Chuck is right. Although I couldn't find any picture showing the abdominal spots.

Thanks again!
