13 cm black with small yellow spots and long tailfin

Post by Kerstens »

Hi all,

I got this beautiful catfish as a bonus Ajiy some other fish when I bought my aquarium. I'm super happy with him/her because it's quite big and totally not shy.

Unfortunately nobody is able to tell me which L number this exactly is. Only things i know is that it's:
Black
About 13 cm (including tailfin)
Yellow spots
6 years old
Caught in the wild

I really hope you can help me with indentifing my MR. Spot (as my kids call him/her :d

Aka L204 I’d say. The lines on the body can break up into spots as the fish age. Make sure there is wood in he tank for it to gnaw on.

Thanks Panaque!

Pictures seem about right.
I have two very big pieces of wood in there and every few weeks I see a small piece of wood on the sand.
This is making sense now although I would expect Mr. Spot to chew of more than it apperently does.

Do you think it's male or female?

Male, because the rear part of the body looks hairy
