Juvenile Syno ID
Asking for a friend, theyre not sure what syno they have. They bought upside down cats, only one is a true one, the other two are not and they want to know what they have so they can plan their best care

Re: Juvenile Syno ID
They mentioned these guys have white stripes on the tail area, is that still something that works for this identification?

The sausage-like one makes me think of ocellifer. No?

Don’t see it as hybrid sp(1) Neither sp_hybrid(7)
Would like to know from those in the know why they think it’s not S.nigrata

Re: Juvenile Syno ID
Synodontis nigrita has smaller, irregularly shaped spots and is greyish/brown. The pictured fish has some spots more like Synodontis ocellifer which is grey. The slightly blunter head shape indicates captive / farm raised and/or hybridisation involved in the pictured fish.
Hope that helps,
Jools
