Could someone please ID this pleco for me please. It came with the tank & I was told it's a clown plec but markings don't look right & I believe it's to big to be a clown.

Hi McCready1,

Welcome to PlanetCatfish!

Your fish looks like it might be a Peckoltia, possibly in the group of species related to (I'm guessing there). FWIW, they are sometimes sold as clowns (or more accurately around me, clowns are sometimes sold as P. vittata). Do you have any side-view photos?

There is some general similarity to L052, although from your photos I think your fish's body is more stocky and less flat. Maybe I'm wrong on that.

Hi

It's an adult Peckoltia for sure, my first impression was L 9, but a lateral picture would help a lot to clarify.

Peckolitia sp. rio_uatuma stress coloration but does this really rule it out still being L009
