Great photo! @Acanthicus will love this and it does look like this genus to me. :-) Maybe you could post another picture from a little further out showing the whole fish.

Hi,

from this picture it is difficult to tell if you obtained P. major or P. histrix.
Are the caudal and dorsal fins patterned with white stripes? P. major is also considered to have a lower and longer head then P. histrix, but we'd need a lateral view to check on this.

Personally, I am not too sure the characteristics given in the description of P. major on how to distinguish it from P. histrix, are good enough to talk about two species.

However, love that colour!

I'm not sure, they're damaged by L064 in the tank. I'll post an updated pic when it's already healed.

this is the new batch that I put in the tank

PS. Many thanks!

Thanks!

I wonder why it's super expensive compare to colorful plecos like L024 L025

It is a rare fish in the trade, that's why. Comparable to S. immaculatus, which is grey but rare and expensive, or wild caught L 70. Another reason is that the exported fish are often rather large and therefore more expensive regarding the shipping costs.
