Pleco identification help

Post by Mizcreant »

I bought this pleco because he looked different. If it's a common pleco that's fine I will love it anyway. I'm just trying to figure out what kind of pleco it is. It's in a tank with mopani wood so the tannins make the coloration look different. In clear water it is kind of like a golden orangeish color.

Hi Mizcreant,

Welcome to Planetcatfish!

Your fish is definitely one of the common plecos, or . It has some resemblance to , but doesn't look right. Watch it as it grows. Its pattern will become clear soon enough.

Cheers,
Eric
