A visit to the store

Post by Cory-headache »

Hi again everyone,
In the past, I was helped a lot on this website. Yesterday I visited my local store once again and once again I would love to find out which species I photographed. For those wondering why I would like to know, I keep a database with different species that I have photographed throughout the years. Currently over 5000 different species are in there.

I hope any of you know the species below, thanks in advance!

Hi Cory-headache,

The first photo is , maybe L168. The second is a Hypancistrus. How big is it? It looks to be related to but it looks larger than H. debilittera. Maybe or ? (or maybe even , but that I doubt.)

Cheers, Eric

Thanks for your help! Unfortunately I don't know how large it was, but I have only seen one debilittera before and it was definitely larger than that one. Here is one more picture, that might be of help?

Hi,

it is none of the known debilittera-types and doesn't belong to this group. It can't be H. sp. "Guaviare" either, the eye is too large, the head to high. I think it is likely a hybrid of a wormlined Hypancisrus from Xingu (I guess L 66) and one of the H. margaritatus-complex (L 136 e.g.)

What do you do with all your photos? Hopefully they are date stamped?

And what happens when you notice the "same species" starts to look different from photos taken years earlier?
