Full Circle

In 2003 I was putting together an expedition from Bogota to Leticia to collect fish. I recruited two Navy SEALS from the Embassy (as I knew they would not be afraid of the water) and my sister Amber who was 21 and staying with us in Bogota (she had no choice). A guy I worked with in the Embassy asked that I take along his 15 year old Colombian brother-in-law as he had aspirations to be a biologist.

So myself, two SEALS, a 21 year old girl, and a 15 year old boy headed into the deep Amazon. It was a great collecting trip and there are dozens of photos from that trip on PC.

Tonight, out of the blue, that 15 year old kid (Felipe) reached out to me on Messenger. He did finish his studies in biology and today is a an exporter of tropical fishes in Brazil.

That's a great story, just goes to show, do the right things, and the right things will happen.

Heart-warming. Thank you, Shane. A photo of the motley crew party would finish off the cake.
