Image of L019 actually of L020?

Post by MarcW »

Hi All,

I recently got a group of and read there had been some confusion between that and so I took a look at them in the Cat-eLog.

To my non-expert eyes it looks like the third picture of L019 labelled as juvenile, might be a picture of Spectracanthicus zuanoni, it is quite a small picture so I may have missed something, but it doesn't look like the other pictures of L019 to me.

Thanks

They are very hard to tell apart when young from photographs. Even in the wild when holding the fish in your hand it's tricky. Given the fact that the differences between and were first discussed with me by Ingo who took that third photos, I am pretty confident of the ID.

One of those ones where the photo looks wrong but it probably right.

Thanks Jools, interesting stuff. The juvenile L019 really looks like L020!
