L377 spawn, possible albino's
Hi,
I know it's early to tell but in this photo it looks like i have some albino L377 fry.
I bought my trio 1x male 2x female of L377's about 2 months ago and the previous owner also sold albino fry. They told me the adults i was getting carry the albino gene.
These fry i have are a little over a week old but clearly some are a lighter colour.
I'm very happy either way as it's my best accomplishment as a not very experienced breeder.
Fingers crossed i get these to stay alive and grow them out to a nice size.
Also these fish are not seen so often in australia, especially in my city.
If anyone has a idea if they are albino please let me know.
Thanks

Congratulations! Good luck raising the fry. I hope you do have some albinos. I look forward to seeing you're pictures as the fish develop.

They would lack pigment and have pink/red eyes, I'm not too familiar with albino fish, not having kept any, but I've also recently seen some Corys which at first glance appeared albino, but then I noticed they had black eyes.
Congrats on the spawn!

If I rememeber correctly, Loricarids need time to develop their colors. Therefore fry, just hatched my look pale, but can still be normal.

Re: L377 spawn, possible albino's
Hi all,
Thanks for the input.
I have always thought the same that albino meant they will have red eyes, which they all do.
But the previous owner has the albino from mine still, and their eyes are black.
Maybe not a true albino but they do lack pigment like MarkW said, but keep their same patterns.
And yes Eric the Ancistrus sp(4) or in australia people say lemon b/n or of coarse the "fake" L144.
Hard to say exactly what mine could be, but either way they are not normal haha.
Thanks everyone,
Macrae

That last photo is some juvies from my adults that the previous owner still has. Similar markings but no pigment. But darker eyes, it's very strange. Maybe not true albino, but i think people just refer them as being albino.

Hi Bas Pels,
Yes this is very true, it is early to tell. I'm just sort of hoping for now.
Don't want to get my hopes up just yet.
I will keep getting weekly photos to see what happens.
Thanks
