I know planetcatfish has some articles on this, but it would be really cool to get a broader arcive.
I have some 15 different L-numbers and have a hard time finding whats the "optimal" setup.
Only have 8 tanks to play with so some of them need to be a middle thing that several species can do well in.

Like the L-204, I don't have a clue to what the river they come from is like, and I can't find info about them on the net that is satisfying.
I love L-numbers

Hi!
I think that Mergus have this thing sorting out!
Ingo Seidel and Hans-George Evers have wriiten a two tome book, referencing all ( if not almost all) the Loricariidae with description of the biotops within the book!
The first tome was out last year (in German) , it is schedule to be out in English currently this year with the second tome ( in German).
But it is true that there is a great lack of Biotp references with pictures showing up the biotop, the only picture you can come up with is shot being made out of the water, which is not really usefull to see how the river's bottom looks like!
Cheers

Hi!

Santa brought me the Welsatlas this year!

The biotope part is great...the rest is...well fish i never had/will have...

Im saving money to get some L204 but im not sure that youll be happy what i tell you about their biotope.
EVERS/SEIDEL: Peru, Rio San Alejandro 25.9.1995 1400 hours ph 8,4 190 microS/cm temp 30°C no aquatic vegetation, Sand on the banks and gravel in the middle, width 30-50 meters with a depth up to 100 cm. They live in very strong currents on wood along with L206, Panaque sp, Ancistrus sp. and Cochliodon sp. With L206 being the dominant species.

greetings
Christian

Hi!

The biotope part is great similar to shanes articles...

I was disappointed that there are otos, loricariidae, whales in the species part...way to make you buy the second one in anticipation of L numbers...

Hi!
Yes it was say that the first one was about non L-number pl*co and the second one should be totally about them.
But as you said the second one will sure be a best seller!

If anyone wants to see film of Parotocinclus, Acestridium and many others in their natural habitat, some actively feeding, you need to get hold of the video available at http://www.belowwater.com
It's an hour of underwater footage from the Orinoco drainage. I have a copy and it's great discussion material over a few beers. There also plenty of Cichlids on there if you 'swing both ways'!

I'll ask, I think it would be quite a good idea. I can let you have a preview in February hopefully.
