ancistrus + peckoltia

Post by vlg1728 »

Hello,

Can ancistrus and peckoltia live in the same tank ? It's for a 360L, and i have 5 peckoltia adults + some youngs of the year.

Thank you !

What species do you have of each genus?

Should be fine while they are young. I rotate LFBN fry in all my different pleco tanks. Need to be careful though because of males fighting over caves once they get mature.

I think the same - they should be fine together for now. But when all are full grown, it may get a little testy. Make sure you provide more than enough hiding places in terms of wood, rocks, pipes and caves. Also, use rocks, wood, or sheets of slate to break up "line of sight" to further reduce territory-based aggression.

Good luck,
Eric

Can the fights be lethal ?

oh...

i'm not sure i want to try... even if the tank has lots of hiding places and enough territories, if it's to have a dead peckoltia it's not worth the try I think.
