Bamboo Caves

Post by MrFish49 »

So I have a bunch of different sized bamboo available to me to cut up and use as caves due to a tree falling and breaking a bunch of it. Any downsides to bamboo besides it breaking down and would it be fine green after boiling it or should I bake it once to turn it brown and dry.

I've never used fresh bamboo, but I use old dry bamboo (I buy it at garden centers) for all my plecos and wood cats.

Only downside I know is that they somehow stink when you take them out of the water :D

Not sure if others have the same experience though.

I use lots of bamboo caves. Just soak them for few weeks so they sink. Only negative is that they only last 3-4 years. But then again... they are free.
