Re: Ancistrus cf. cirrhosus spawn
Repashy is good. Myself, I usually mix 1/4 cup morning wood with 1/4 cup soilent green. Pour cooked liquid onto a dinner plate to gel, then cut into little squares. Freeze them in a single layer then break off pieces to feed over a few weeks.

Re: Ancistrus cf. cirrhosus spawn
What is your mix ratio of powder to water? I thought I would be able to pour what I mixed up but it was to dry. The L104 devoured the cubes I dropped in last night, pleco fry were still working on theirs, cherry shrimp didn't appear to have touched it, the glass shrimp were green, and my silver dollars are undecided.
My plan is to mix up and freeze once I get the ratios figured out.

Sorry, I meant 1:2. A total of 1/2 cup powder mixed with 1 cup boiling water.

Re: Ancistrus cf. cirrhosus spawn
Fry are definitely chowing down on the Repashy. L104 appear to be as well as the cubes are gone. My SD are sampling it but still don't know if they like it. My chocolate Cichlid doesn't spit it out.

I was able to remove fry from the new BNP male and an albino female.

Was moving stuff of the desk and found a BNP fry left over from the move on 26DEC just chilling in the bottom of the container. Moved it to the 29g planted tank as it needs some algea removal.

Also great for Repashy are icemaking trays designed to make small ice cubes. You can freeze several months worth over a couple days and zip lock bag the cubes in the freezer.

Re: Ancistrus cf. cirrhosus spawn
I did consider getting some mini ice cube trays for that purpose. At a 1:2 ratio the Repashy sets up pretty quick. I have some 100mm square freezer boxes and I mix up 1/3 cup Rapashy powder with 2/3 cup water and the cube it after it is solid. Gives me a couple weeks worth.

It is cool. I now have 3 established pairs so I am holding off on collecting fry for grow outs.

Re: Ancistrus cf. cirrhosus spawn
Genetic mutations or other defects are always bound to show up. This is quasimodo. He should have been euthanized when he was smaller but I didn't catch his defect until he was larger. Now I am attached to him and so he will be kept separate from the other population. He is currently in my Neolamprologus multifasciatus shell dweller tank. He is approximately 2.5in.

Re: Ancistrus cf. cirrhosus spawn
My 220g aquarium has ich. I have dosed with cupramin and noticed that my BNP pair are hanging out at the surface. Should I try to remove them to another tank for treatment?

Re: Ancistrus cf. cirrhosus spawn
I would avoid cupramin and just go with something simple like Nox Ich. That, and (if you don't have plants) have almost always worked for me.
No matter what, add an extra airstone.
Good luck.

Unfortunately, I have already dosed the cupramin. I do have an air stone and an extra powerhead in the tank.

Re: Ancistrus cf. cirrhosus spawn
That's okay. I just haven't had the best luck with meds in general, so I go with the old safe ones.
As far as your original question, I wouldn't pull a fish out of an ich-contaminated tank because that fish could also have ich. If you're treating the tank, treat everyone. The only time I'd pull any fish out is if they look particularly bad compared to others and the sicker fish needs more extreme intervention. Then I'd pull out the sicker fish, put them in a smaller tank and treat the smaller tank so you need less meds.
Good luck,
Eric

Ok, I will monitor them and see how they do. They have minor ich infestation.bekateen wrote: ↑23 Feb 2021, 02:01 That's okay. I just haven't had the best luck with meds in general, so I go with the old safe ones.
