CW111

Want to share my story of becoming a CW111 breeder
===
I am a hobbyist in Hong Kong and managed to buy 12 F1 specimen from a friend in 2020
They were barely 3 months old, so small that they cannot eat bloodworms yet

We thought they could not breed until 2 yrs of age so I focused on sustainable maintenance and good health for my fish.
This means daily water changes, once feeding daily

They grew slowly at first, without much change in anatomy

I moved them to a bigger tank of 100L in August

By September I noticed some fish have taller dorsal fins. This is male characteristic. It also means they are sexually active in retrospect.
I think I got 8 males and the rest are females

By October I saw some eggs laid over my glass during water change one afternoon. Water temperature fell from 27C in summer to 24C now.
I found out that I have triggered breeding accidentally from an overnight change of 90% water!

This is very surprising as there are no breeding reports documented for this fish. Especially from F1.

I repeated the exercise of water changes and they kept on spawning on a weekly basis, each time around 20-30 eggs.

To diversify the genetic pool, I purchased 50 more adults to join the breeding colony.

The eggs are very easy to incubate; I have prior experience in breeding L236SW.

As spawns, I fed them with BBS and took many photos as they grow.
It is amazing to see your own fry changes with time into an amazing fish like CW111

They are still breeding as we speak.

These are some photos for the world to see.

Full detailed breeding report is also uploaded to this database.

Some importer in Austria offers them for 600 EUR/piece. I thanked him and said "bye bye". :)
