Synodontis breeding project

Post by Figaro »

Hi all,

About 6 weeks ago, I decided to try my luck at breeding several species of Synodontis. I aquired a group of lucipinnis (2m+3f), Zambian polli white (2m+3f), some wildcaught polli (2m+3f) and 20 multipunctatus. So far the lucipinnis and Zambian polli white syno's proved pretty easy to breed and currently I am raising the first batches of youngsters. The wild polli females are fattening up pretty nice and look gravid with eggs, so that won't take too long as well (I hope).

Now for the multipunctatus...I put the entire group of 20 in a 400 litertank to grow a bit more together with a breeding group of large Trimatochromis brevis (1m+7f), which are constantly breeding. The multipunctatus are only about 7-8 centimeters at the moment, which seems a little too small to me to breed. Could anyone tell me at what size they will reach sexual maturity?

Thanks,

Eelke
