stars by name
I know this is a non important question, low priority and all
but what are the stars by our name on the right and why are mine all gone? Did I have some? Everyone else does? Not a big deal. At all. Just curious.

The stars used to indicate your member status according to the number of posts you made. It's probably removed during a forum upgrade.

Right, but other people do have the stars - look at this thread:Silurus wrote:The stars used to indicate your member status according to the number of posts you made. It's probably removed during a forum upgrade.

Andy's post is about 4 down, missing the stars, but the previous and next posts have stars (except for me, but that's because I'm a moderator).

Out of interest , is there a threshold that has to be reached for the number of stars to increase - not that i have star envy or anything!!!

Yes, you'll get another star (and then you're "full up") when you reach 1000.Richard B wrote:Out of interest , is there a threshold that has to be reached for the number of stars to increase - not that i have star envy or anything!!!

Re: stars by name
Maybe it is because of the" I've donated " probably anyone that has this does not have stars
The other ones that do not have stars are moderators

Re: stars by name
It's a long story. In the previous version of the forum (phpBB2), if you donated, you went onto a special status to show the fact.
In the new forum (phpBB3) you can have both, HOWEVER, anyone donating before the change over doesn't have stars and I should probably fix that.
Mods and admins didn't/don't have stars in either version of the forum.

Re: stars by name
Is this something that needs a fix? (I have no idea what needs to be done to fix this, so hints from Jools needed if I'm going to help out!)

Re: stars by name
Does look like it hasn't been fixed - I have donated and have stars, yet the OP has also donated but still doesn't have them. I suppose it depends how much work it is to fix and if anyone who doesn't have the stars wants them!

Re: stars by name
Just to end this topic. The stars are no more because all they did was crudely show number of posts. Not much of an indicator given all the other data in there that tells you a lot more about the person.
Cheers,
Jools
