Pics Attachments?

Post by polkadot »

It would be great if we're allow to attach pics from our remote computer to the board. Right now, it's only possible take a link from other sites. Understand that takes up a lot of space, but .............

There is an add on for phpBB that will allow you to do that but it would mean more load on the server.

I'm not keen on this as I don't really want the database clogged up with image files nor the potential cost of additional bandwidth usage. I understand it may also have data migration issues should we ever migrate again and I don't want to face the same problems as last time.

Referencing a pic uploaded elsewhere is the option and Tim's gallery is the place of choice to do this.

Erm, what what, all the picks I post are on my own IIS server at home. The clue is to actually have them compressed so they won't take much bandwitdh

Correct me if I'm wrong, but what polkadot was suggesting was that you upload images and they are stored in the database rather than linked to elsewhere.
