Have on-mouse-over pop-up photos gotten larger? If so, thanks!

Post by bekateen »

Just perusing the website this afternoon using Google Chrome. Maybe it's my imagination, but the on-mouse-over pop-up images and the My Cats images seem larger than before. I even double-checked to make sure my brower wasn't using any "zoom" to make everything larger (it was not). If I'm imagining it, okay. If you've made them larger, thanks. :-)

Cheers, Eric

Yes, they were always meant to be this size, but a mistake meant they were not.

My old eyes like it. Thank you!

If you can make Genus-level clog pages do this, that would be awesome for searching to ID unknowns. ;-)

All hover-over thumbnails should do this - works OK for me?

On a genus CLOG page, it works for me on the "most kept species" list, but not if I hover over the names of the thumbnails. That leaves the viewer with only the tiny thumbnail. It would be good (especially for anyone with visual impairments) if on-mouse-over pop-up pics worked there too. (In addition to the thumbnails, not in lieu of them).

Hi Eric,

It's not meant to work that way, thumbnails are the industry "standard" of 161x161. So, small but give an indication of the fish. I could add, or replace the thumbnails with a list of spp. to the genus page (so it works the same way as the spp. list on the family page). Adding hover-over images to thumbnails will result in a really messy layout as the hover-over is relative to where the image is, not a nice orderly vertical list.

The other thing I could look at is making the thumbnails bigger if you're using a computer (larger) screen and stick at 161px if otherwise (mobile etc). I'll make that change, it will take a few weeks for the images to the start resizing (larger, on mobile, they will be slightly smaller from now), however, I have tweaked the undernoted genus page as a "one-off" for testing.

Addendum, perhaps the biggest change will be on big species thumbnail pages such as the infinite l-numbers page:
