Help me identifying my (L333?) plecos
Help me identifying my (L333?) plecos
Edit: I would also like to know (if possible at all) the sex of my alleged L333 plecos!
I bought 4 plecos, which were supposed to be L333. When I got them, I saw one that was definitely a L333, two that might be a L333 but has white stripes and not yellowish, and one that is probably not a L333. I'll attach the photos of all 3.
Another story is that i friend of mine who owns a local store got a pleco mixed in a batch of paraotocinclus. He couldn't identify the species and he gave it to me so that I would keep it and grow it out to maybe make it easier to identify it. I'll also attach a photo oh him in this post.
Can anyone help me with the correct identification of all those plecos?

Re: Help me identifying my plecos
Hello Gcalberto,
Welcome to PlanetCatfish! As for your L333, I suspect only one might be L333, but I'm not sure what the others are. As for the odd pleco that came in with the Parotocinclus, I see so much going on there that should easily lead to an ID, but I can't pin it down. I'm thinking this is in the genus , but there are so many species I cannot narrow it down. Sorry.
@acanthicus, your thoughts on the L333 imposters and the odd fish?
Cheers, Eric

Re: Help me identifying my plecos
My first thought on the the odd one might be that it's one of the southern Brazilian . It doesn't have the longer lower caudal fin of Squaliforma, nor does it appear to be flat enough for Aphanotorulus [sensu lato] but that could be camera angle - the "pale chin line" looks right.
Would be interested to hear Daniel's view.

Thank you for the answers! Seems like I really was in way over my head when I tried to identify them
Re: Help me identifying my plecos
Anyone else maybe able to shed a light on the specific species / L number of my plecos?
Re: Help me identifying my plecos
Got another pic from one of the plecos that look like L333s, but have white stripes instead of light yellow
