I found the photo below in the following publication:
Ortega-Lara, A., Y. Cruz-Quintana, y V. Puentes. (Eds.). 2015. Dinámica de la Actividad Pesquera de Peces Ornamentales Continentales en Colombia. Serie Recursos Pesqueros de Colombia – AUNAP. Autoridad Nacional de Acuicultura y Pesca –
AUNAP ©. Fundación FUNINDES ©. 174 p.
Looks like it is . Would there be any reason to update the name from sp(1) to sp`Rio_Cinaruco`?
Cheers, Eric
Could this be a wild-caught Hypancistrus sp. (1) from the Colombia/Venezuela border?

Re: Could this be a wild-caught Hypancistrus sp. (1) from the Colombia/Venezuela border?
Hi Eric
that's the so called "Platinum", a colourmorph of H. debilittera, it does not only occur/happen in Río Cinaruco, but also in the Río Meta basin.
I would not rename it to mentioned name, because L 474 is sometimes still traded as H. sp. "Río Cinaruco" which might lead to confusion and the hope, that all sp. "Río Cinaruco"/L 474 look like this. Just as it happened with LDA19/the Mega Clown some years ago.
cheers,
Daniel

Thanks, Daniel. I had heard of it being called the platinum hypan before, but had never heard who it was related to.
Will leave it alone.
Cheers, Eric
