Help identify my Pleco. I'm worried it will get too big.

Post by emmer »

I just bought this "Yellow" Pleco. At least that's how the LFS had it labeled. My research is telling me it's a Common Pterygoplichthys pardalis, in which case it will get much too large for my 40G. Please help me correctly identify.

Hi,

you got a man made form of P. pardalis, as you already found out. It's sometimes called "chocolate pleco" too.

Thanks for your reply Acanthicus. I have no tanks nearly large enough for this variety. Guess I'll be returning it to the LFS.
