Identify three Corydoras species

Post by kiwidu21 »

Hi,

I come to you again for an identification of Corydoras. I have three to identify but I think I have two distinct species. In order to facilitate identifications (and because they are quite shy and therefore difficult to take a picture of), I will put them one by one on this subject.

So we start with the first, having previously been identified as C. leucomelas (around 2018 I believe, it was a friend who posted the subject). But the corydoras is now about 5 years old and exceeds 6cm (against 4 cm for leucomelas on the PC sheet). It has, moreover, a form different from leucomelas.
Specimen that I think is a male but it's quite complicated to take a picture of his fins.

Hello,
It looks to be C ambiacus, lineage 8. C leucomelas is lineage 9 and smaller size

Cheers,

It looks like it but the size doesn't match. I saw C. ambiacus giant on an online sales site, is it a variety or another species?

Hello,

as I don't have more answers for the first one, I will post pictures of those I will buy (ambiacus giant) in order to be sure that they are of the same species.

Here is the second corydoras: about 4 cm but young (about 1 year). Ambiacus too?

I would say ambiacus, based on how the black from the dorsal extends onto the body.

Thanks.
So here is the last one. As he is very fearful and does not fall into the trap I set, I only have a medium quality video. I hope it will be clear enough for you to give me an idea of the species. It has a slightly yellow stain (not visible on the video) which is not very pronounced (not as much as the previous ones) in the same place as the ambiacus. He measures about 4 cm and is approximately 1 year old. I was thinking more of a leucomelas for this one.

Luckily, I managed to catch it at the same time as my reticulatus. I separated the time of the identification so if other photos are needed, it is possible.

I think that's , or a c/cw number of a similar species.
