Wild-caught Synodontis hybrids are unheard of. Captive-bred ones are common. Your next step is to verify the origin...

In the Cat-eLog this one young nigrita photo does look to indicate the two vertical light-colored bands post dorsal, albeit these are wide and diffuse while the OP fish shows then thin and with reasonable contrast. Since no other youngsters in the Cat-eLog show it, it could be a matter of mood, I guess.

As a rule, I don't easily believe the "wild" label, especially when it comes to synodontis trade, unless it is given more info / weight. But it looks like it could be indeed wild.

Dang I missed my chance to get pics. A few years ago my LFS got a large shipment of S. nigrita.

I don't agree with S. nigrita. The jaw barbels of S. nigrita are much smaller. Also the black spots of young S. nigrita are smaller. Please post another photo in a few month when the fish is bigger.
