What cory is this?

Post by Manoah »

Hi everyone, i bought a couple of corydoras a few weeks ago. They where sold as kanei but it looks like they're spots are in a pattern. And they have a very short nose and theyre collor is not realy grey white but more a sand color. Does anybody have any idea what species these guys are? And are they from columbia or near?

might be right, but the truncated head shape and low body doesn't align with my expectations. How small/big are these fish?

looks very similar, but the black on your dorsal fin spine is different from atropersonatus.

They remind me of and there are a few other, similar lineage 9 undescribed spp. that are close too. Do you have any pics of the parents?

I would be cautious of jumping to a new species, or even a new number.

What differences do you see between your fish and C048? I would also compare the difference in the pics in the species entry on fishes kept over different substrates too, that might help.

Pictures of the parents and any locality information would also be useful.

it's only a small difference but mine have less spots on their body than c048. And it looks like c048 has bigger spots. I asked my local fish shop where they got it from but they just said “from a wholesaler”. So i don’t have access to any info of their parents. They did say they where captive bred. But i don’t have more info!
