Microgeophagus ramirezi (Ram cichlid)

I know this isnt a question about plecos but I know everyone on here seems to be so good at keeping fish you may be able to help.

I have got two Rams, the first two i got werent very good stock and took them back as they wouldnt eat, the next two were the same. However i recently got two more which look bigger and more healthy but the same prob is occuring, they dont seem to be eating much and they are looking a bit thin, any suggestions on what it could be or on what to feed them, im currently feeding my fish bloodworm, flake, tablet, and granular food.

Rams seem to have a tendency to come in crummy, possibly bad breeding/keeping practices by large farms raising them? anyhow, if not eating is a problem, you've tried everything I fed mine except brine shrimp and a few other frozen foods... might try blackworms, if they don't eat those probably won't eat anything.

I know that rams like it warm. What is the temperature in your tank? They also like soft water.

The Temp is 27C and there is nothing on that site about them, posted a link there thought, looks like its could be a good site, going back for another look...

I plan on getting a few Rams soon, but have never kept them before. Are they difficult to keep? I was going to get 4 or 5 for my 110 gallon. (Already stocked with 5 Altum Angels, Sailfin Mollies (these will be gone before Rams arrive), 1 Goldy Pleco and 3 Clown Loaches). Also, what about fighting between males?

rams arent hard at all and if you have a tank thats 120 gallons you should have no problems at all just provide a few caves or hiding areas for the fish to hide in if there are any scuffles and you will be fine. rams are also quite easy to breed provide a mating pair with a cave and the proper water conditions and youll have plenty of fry. i havent had any feeding problems with rams in the past. you may want to try to use bloodworms, brine shrimp, or even water fleas to get them to eat. :P
