You know.. I seriously considered posing a riddle involving Mersenne primes a week or two ago. I decided not to because I thought I'd get myself lynched..

?
The interpretation of "concatenation" being "addition" in this instance...?

I know the answer, as I have seen them - I won't cheat.

Dave and Torbanite are wrong, tho'.

Probably, as they were in the shop when we went together.

Panaque is on the right track, but it's not the right answer. It is not the species_id...

Yikes!
The first three SW primes strung end to end (concatenation- computing?) is 237 but I'm lost on the first decimal primes being 2, 23 and 2357.
What the hey, ?

OK, I'll have another go...

The 235th entry in the list of = ?

Perhaps the numbers aren't actually "in order"?

Don't they have to be in order if it is to be a Smarandache-Wha-dya-ma-callit number ?

Yes, here's another couple of clues.

I'm a pleco with black and white spots.

I like large sandwiches, haunted houses and have a pal called Shaggy. I also tend to say "Ruh-huh" quite a lot.

Having followed this from day 1 - if I was 'playing', this would have been the first one I could have got...but only because of previous guesses!

On the right track, but not right. 3 is a prime number, but 6 and 8 are not.

Argh, forgot about the primes bit...
133 has no pic so I don't know if it's spotted but 1,3,3?

edit, this guy too

Yup, absolutely. Primo, numero uno, she no count?

how bout my second guess L253?

L253 is the one - I didn't see your edit.

well, at least that's what I think it is, since Jools was pointing at a set of three of those in Wigan - BIG ones!, and 2, 3, 5 are the first three prime numbers, and scramble them, get 253.

I do believe you are correct there:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smarandache-Wellin_prime

235 is a S-W number, but 253 isn't, as the 5 is in the wrong place.

But does the scenery stay the same with every terrorizing pass and do they hang out with the Green Phantom (L200)?

Previously Listed Catfish

New fish:
a) You'll find my name twice mentions the media of a certain non-math creative profession or guild.
b) The profession you need relates to a poisson number but not a catfish number.
c) Pickles, mushrooms and T-stakes.
d) A sinking feeling.
e) 961.48

a) ?
b) the Poisson process is a collection \scriptstyle\{ N(t) : t \geq 0 \} of random variables, where N(t) is the number of events that have occurred up to time t (starting from time 0). The number of events between time a and time b is given as N(b) − N(a) and has a Poisson distribution. Each realization of the process {N(t)} is a non-negative integer-valued step function that is non-decreasing, but for intuitive purposes it is usually easier to think of it as a point pattern on [0,∞) (the points in time where the step function jumps, i.e. the points in time where an event occurs). Way too difficult for me
c) sounds good, but still ?
d) a film
e) second or subsequent offenses

In short: not yet found, but confident :D

a) find the profession, find the fish
b) correct and the profession related media's Poisson ratio is.37 This is how it relates :"...is the ratio of the contraction or transverse strain (normal to the applied load), to the extension or axial strain (in the direction of the applied load)."
c)That stake is no spelling error, you'd break your teeth on it.
d)Oh. Didn't know that. Other relevant actions relating again to the profession: chasing
e) a certain degree of heat

Clue additions :) :
a) You'll find my name twice mentions the media of a certain non-math creative profession or guild. Profession probably started in 770 BC. The media referred to has been around since the big bang or so. Media: part of the common name, part of the species name..

b) The profession you need relates to a poisson number but not a catfish number..(.37)is the ratio of the contraction or transverse strain (normal to the applied load), to the extension or axial strain (in the direction of the applied load)." If the professional ignores this, poof there goes all your hard work!

c) Pickles, mushrooms and T-stakes. Profession uses these as well :Alum, boric acid, sulfuric acid
d) A sinking feeling. Sinking, chasing, raising, dapping, folding, forming
e) 961.48 degrees c. If the professional ignores this, poof there goes all your hard work!

f) for the key profession, school not required, master required.
