Is the manufacturer named Shorts?

Can't find a tribe to match shorts or piper but maybe it's one of those funky mexico-style spellings, xo etc?
However, this is a nice fish named after a tribe:
?
Oops, just realized you said species name not genus!
How about
?

Apparently you have a winner! It seems to be a Shorts plane after all.

That's the one
The aircraft is the Embraer Tucano, also manufactured under licence by Short Brothers.

Now that is some serious luck! But I'll take credit for the tribe search
Got stuck on the KA-50 Russian Black Shark chopper videos when searching for light aircraft. Wiki for planes!
http://www.aviapedia.com/ could be stuck there for days. Oh my, what a machine.
Okay fish.. back in a minute.

New fish:
1) There's very little known about me. There's several pictures but they're all the same fish. No keepers. No temps, ph, food etc.
2) My synonyms show that I've been flipped from genus to genus several times since I was discovered just under 200 years ago. Then it was decided I was partly based on a larger genus.
3) I'm a shark-style catfish. Pretty big eyes for my head size and whiskery too.
4) There's no info about where I was caught but my genus says I'm from the east.
5) If you know botany, part of my short species name contains the word for the bump along the stem that contains meristems. Now just make that word female, ciao!

Hemibagrus menoda

I need to work on my clues
All yours Marc. I think you may be the leader at this point, I'll have to rustle up some stats while you stump me on the next one.
Previously Listed Catfish
Edit: Marc and torbanite tied at 31 wins each!!

It's about the game, not the wins. Too bad however that the amount of players has dropped rather dramatically.
Anyway, for those who (still) enjoy it, here's a new one:
1) I have something to do with a British band (1982-1987), which influenced "Britpop" bands like Blur, Radiohead & Oasis
2) My feeding habits (if the Clog is correct!) will not amuse my tankmates, unless they're catfishes
3) No registered keepers

I suspect it is not the answer (the clog says nothing about its feeding habits) but..
?

The morrisi part isn't that bad really; you've got the right band. A song should get you further.

It doesn't always work, but this time I had some advantage of "doing" the synonyms for this site. I had a strong suspicion where to look

That makes me feel a bit better

That doesn't though, I think I've scared everyone off

. Maybe we need a new Fearless Leader? Grokefish was very trusting but maybe new blood will spice up the thread? Any volunteers?
Maybe this:
(dramatic music in background, kettle drums perhaps, music from 300? Voice-over from one of the guys in Braveheart - not Mel)
"What Am I? Season Two. All new fish and mindbending twisters. No clues are off-limits, not fish is too big. THIS is Reality...."
Can someone whip up that trailer and send it out to Youtube?
Okay, morrisi fish...

Nonsense. Just keep doing what you did so far. No-one should have any problems with the way you handle this game.

I think I can say without fear of contradiction that you are one of the least scary members of this forum

That might suggest that our fish is fond of fish scales?
If so, one that might fit the bill is
.
However, I don't see any Smiths connection & the clog says nothing about its feeding habits - although this
Shane's World article does...

Definitely on the right track. Which song?
4) I don't mind some salt in my H2O

Bigmouth strikes again?
?
Can't see any pointed reference to salt but the scale eater is there.

How about Big mouth
sea catfish?

That was a very witty catfish to choose
I keep forgetting the freshwater "inland sea" at my doorstep in not a real sea!
New fish:
1) I have a dorsal fin like a sail and a caudal fin that makes me stand out from similar fish.
2) A prairie farmer may want to keep me.

Wow you guys are good
That's it, the Red Thresher Catfish, Squaliforma cf_emarginata
Pretty fish, though I was trying to find a red one when I found it!
All yours tobanite
List will be undated shortly - after I post my new cory!!!

I couldn't find a Combine Harvester catfish so I figured Thresher had to be the one.
I have a couple of fish who do pretty good impressions of combine harvesters though
Previously Listed Catfish
New Fish
i) I have fairly impressive teeth
ii) My non-paired fins have very distinctive markings.
iii) Some theorize that these markings serve to confuse predators, others that they help females avoid visiting a breeding cave occupied by the wrong species.

I'm afraid not.
iv) You have the correct family.
v) The official language around here would be Spanish rather than Portuguese.
