Richard B:
Akysis prashadi?
Nope.
Your guy is named after a person, my fish is named after a weapon. (species name)
My fish is even smaller.

Noturus gladiator?
Nope.
I'm smaller than that fish and my name refers to the weapon itself not the one who holds weapons. Almost anyone could have this weapon, now or in the past.
And although it doesn't specifically say on your fish's species page, I'm guessing it's like other madtoms so I'm from the opposite side of the earth.
Don't forget the first part of my name refers to the effect of something like poison ivy.

Marc:
Nanobagrus armatus?
Nope but the size is better. Closer location too but I don't have a globe handy so let's just say my fish could nibble on a dropped slice of Beguni, but not likely something coconut flavoured.

Clue roundup:
My names contain weaponry and an effect of poison ivy.
....my fish is named after a weapon...
..my name refers to the weapon itself not the one who holds weapons. Almost anyone could have this weapon, now or in the past.
Don't forget the first part of my name refers to the effect of something like poison ivy.

New clue: Think like Lucretius.

Clue keys:
Like the effect of poison ivy, named after a weapon, familiar describer, 1.6 inch, Beguni = eggplant snack from West Bengal.
erethizo = that irritates + Greek, suffix oides = similar The species name comes from the Latin sicula, meaning dagger
Ng, 2005

It's all your torbanite

iii) I am the only species in my genus.
iv) There are no pictures of me in the cat-e-log but, if my species name is any indication, I should be bright red, very streamlined and able to swim at 200mph..

Niob(e) + ichthys

Ferrari = a flashy car.
"Gloria al Bravo Pueblo"/"Glory to the Brave People" = Venezuela's national anthem.

Your turn!

3) That species is not in the Clog, but to give you an idea: it almost* shares its species name with that of the clown loach (* one vowel has to be changed)

New fish.

I'm big. i only have 3 recorded keepers. On the odd occasions i appear in the UK trade i am often called by one of my "old names", a recorded synonym.

I once bit Richard B! my species & genus names are the same...

Well, my first thought was actually , which would fit much better but for one thing: it has four registered keepers....

However...... I just noticed it actually has 3 keepers! One person is registered twice.

well done! i saw that & thought it might throw people - 3 keepers but one is indeed down twice.

Over to you Marc

EDIT - further explanation, a foot long one once got a mouthful of three of my fingers when i wasn't looking whist re-aquascaping a six foot. the little devil caught me quite by surprise & wouldn't let go until i removed my hand from the water - no real damage.

The last few i've seen were still labelled P. Lutkeni (synonym).

Big = 55 inches
