Hope we're not talking about Melanotaeniidae, because (too) many species names overlap

iii) We are, and that's a good point. I hadn't thought about the possibility of overlap.
iv) However, it's a very popular (and endangered) Rainbow..
v) The catfish you require is a South American

clue 1 phrased differently
1 If you know my name, you would assume to know what familie I'm in. However, this is wrong.
As an axample, Corydoras is not a Dorid, although doras would suggest this. (obviously, I'm not a Corydoras)

So I'm thinking it's something like along the lines of
- but I don't think it's that species at all, as
Glanis is a Asia + Europe species. Perhaps "Lophiobagrus", from Africa?

YESSSSS
pimelodella is in Heptapteridae, but the name would suggest Pimeloidae
lasterigata reminded me of Barbus lasterigata, coming from Asia (a large sized fish, 10 - 20 cm bolylength, if I rememeber correctly)
Marc, your turn

New fish:
1) my genus name indicates I'm not a full member of my family
2) my species name is not solely used for fish. Also the UK counterpart of car manufacturer Opel had types with that name

1) Hemi-
2) car ->
Vauxhall velox..?
3) VW
Beetle ->
Bembidion velox?
5) browser -> Fire
fox ->
Vulpes velox ?
Looking at the build of the fish,
velox (fast/speedy) seems an appropriate name..(not so sure about the Vauxhall).
