Right some clues to help you out:-
My species name used to contain part of my family name but no longer does.
My closest relative featured as catfish of the month in the month that hostage crisis of over 100 days at the residence of the Japanese ambassador in the country where the type specimen for it is from, ends after government commandos storm and capture the building, rescuing 71 hostages.
"It" being the closest relative.
It is now easy.

The hostage clue gave it away. Ended April 20th 1997; CotM then was A. pectinifrons; closest relative is A. albomaculatus.
Synonym: Doras (Doradidae).
And the fact that both you (atm) and the fish (normally) produce "much mucus"

It is a Catfish though, I got it by selecting the random species button and then searching for clues from there, so my clues may be a bit crap.
