...note the use of water manometers to tune the airflow. In a larger setup of multiple tanks you could arrive at a set of repeatable orifice sizes and never have to deal with tweaking valves.

After our P/M conversation regarding air handling systems I was searching
http://www.mcmaster.com for a low range (1-10 or 1-20 PSIG) pressure gage (manometer). I hadn't thought of the water manometers (BUT I SHOULD HAVE!)
People with regenerative blowers feeding large air manifolds really should consider this a required piece of equipment as blowers burn up MUCH quicker when held under too much back pressure. They are designed to operate at high flow and little to no pressure (1-2 PSI).
