I recently picked up 4 young aspidoras labeled as Aspidoras micropsis. I have not been able to find any information on an Aspidoras under this species name. Is anyone familiar with it?
Thanks!

Aspidoras micropsis is not a valid scientific name. Couldn't find an Aspidoras tradename "micropsis" either. The closest I can think of is Corydoras micropsis (mycropsis) which is a tradename for Co
rydoras pygmaeus.
There was a similar discussion on it here:
http://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/view ... =mycropsis
And here's link to C. pygmaeus. See if these are the fellas you got:

Thanks everyone

Alas, this is for sure an Aspidoras, I already have C35 Black Phantom Aspidoras. I have looked through all the aspidoras photos I can find so far, including my books, and this doesn't (yet) look like any of them. Of course, these are only 1/2" fry, so that doesn't help! They do have a blotch in the dorsal fin, I guess time might help as they mature. I found one reference to Aspidoras micropsis on the web, and that was on BoxLotOfFish. However, the link was old and the photo was gone.
I will try to get a decent photo of the little guys, see if that helps!
Thanks!

barb,
in Brazil, Aspidoras pauciradiatus are being sold as "micropsis". take a look at the link below and see if your aspiradoras look like it
