I just caught a catfish today and bought an aquarium for him. I used mostly water and sand from the location he was caught so he will not be too shocked and I am getting him adjusted slowly to aquarium water. My question is: What do I feed him? I have pond-fish food I will atempt to feed him but is that the best thing?

I am not sure what kind of catfish he/she is but I looked at all the pictures of the kinds of catfish on this site and a couple matched up. He is light brown and about 8-10 inches long. He/she has a big belly and it is very slimy.

Thanks
Erastos

You most likely have a bullhead (check here to see what species it is).

Bullheads are not fussy eaters and will eat most anything. Pond fish food should work.

and if you want to give him a treat or teach him tricks, like handfeeding or coming on call (I'm not pulling yer leg, mate!) try earthworms.

Bullheads go nuts for a juicy worm!
