Gibbys have several different pattern variations. I too think its a Gibby but I could be wrong.

It's definitely not a gibbi.
My first impression was that it's some kind of Hypostomus, but the caudal peduncle is a little too long and slender for that.

Hypostomus watwata??Probably not but tried anyway...

Yeah think Mika is right some sort of watwata...ive seen pics of a cf.watwata without the reddish caudalfin. EVERS/SEIDEL note that the fish has a greenish shimmer. It gets very big though.

No way this is a gibby, period.

Can we get a picture with the caudal fin erect? At first stab I would go for a species of Squaliforma but the fish doesn't quite look flat enough. Look at the odontodes on the pectoral fin rays, another interesting feature...

That's what I thought as well. Compare to the pics in the e-log, it's very similar.

A juvenile Isorineloricaria spinosissimus?? The females are less spiny than the males and they look like a hairy Hypostomus that went through a windtunnel....

The snout profile is too high for Isorineloricaria. Also, Isorineloricaria is grey with smaller black spots, not brown with large spots as in the picture.
