Hi

I have been keeping fish for over 18 years although have been unable to keep upto date with regards to taxonomy due to work and family commitments. Now having free time and space available i have set myself up with two 5'x2'x2' tanks and can re commit myself to my love of catfish. I have noticed however that I have in a period of 10 years gone from being upto date with taxonomy to being laughed at and hearing the comment "their not called that anym, ore it a L???. My beloved Bible of catfish (Dr Burgess' Atlas ) is more out of date than I am. Can anyone suggest some upto date books to re aquaint myself. My main area of interest are the Loricaridae.

Thanks

This is a book that a geek like me can curl up with for days. Note that it is not an aquarist book with pictures.
If you want loricariid photos pick up the DATZ L Numbers book. The new Aqualog L Numbers book is a huge improvement over the old but still suffers from many problems. Buy it for the nice photos, but rely on the DATZ book for solid information.

I'd like to think Planet Catfish is coming close to being the current catfish "bible" although you can't curl up with it. :-)

I moved this to the speak easy, just to keep the taxonomy forum uncluttered.

I still read the older reference books because I like them. I also want to learn the scientific names. I'm a know-nothing and I want to know something!
