On Aquabid there is an offering for a Stringray/butterfly pleco. Does anyone have the scientific name or any info on the fish?

Yep, they are hillstream loaches, not plecos ;). Check at http://www.loaches.com for more information!

The one most commonly encountered under that name is Beaufortia kweichowensis.
Thanks

Yes, I think that is it and thanks for helping me not make a mistake. The site is great. (Bookmarked it.)I was really interested in those but I keep warmer water tanks and don't really have one setup for the current these need. Beautiful fish though.

I keep 3 hillstreams in my cold water tank, 2 Gastromyzon sp and 1 Beaufortia kweichowensis. The Gastromyzon are very active, don't often hide, but I can go a few days without seeing the Beaufortia kweichowensis sometimes.
all in all ammusing little fish
