I have a group of 5 3m/2f mature Syno Multipunctatus and I am going to try to get them breeding this summer. After doing a little research, I was planning on using Labidochromis caeruleus. Does anyone have experience with breeding Multi's with these or other hosts? Let me know if there is anything I need to know before I get them breeding.

I have been breeding Multi's over 10 years now. I have had about every kind of mouth breeder carry them except Frontosa and Tropheus.

Excellent, so you have had success with this particular cichlid. Someone just told me it might not hold that many eggs...

Thanks for the advice!

best go for a nonMbuna and a bigger one as well; unless you don't mind handling fish and stripping them.

then the best way to go is Victorian Haps.

but if strippiong is not your thing, go for Placidochromis electra or so. a peaceful beauty and big enough to carry full term.

Cobra, how many do you have of both the multis and the cichlids. also how do you go about sexing the multis.

I usually put 1 male and 3 female's on the Multi's. The cichlids is usually 2 or 3 male's and 8 to 10 female's. That way it seems like you always have a cichlid ready to spawn when the Multi's are ready also. The male Multi will have something hanging down in front of his anal fin.

Hey Cobra,

Also, what size are your males in relation to your females?
