The first one (what you call "one type") is L270.

Hi!
The fish labelled as two type is L129 the 3rd fish pictured with counting the teeth pic is also L129.
The fish labelled as three type could also be L129, but I found them to have quite broad bands...still they also seems to be quite variable, depending of the catching locality
I would agree with HH about the one type, looks like L270
fish in picture n°2 (without counting the pic of the teeth) is either L270 or L316
Cheers

hi,they are very nice looking. what do you think if label them "the one type" as the Hypancistrus sp. L340.
from the observation: they are small in size, less than 8cm and they are imported from colombia

The eyes are to big for both L316 and L270, I think maybe you got a mix of L199 and L129 with some L340 among them
Anyway...all these species are from Colombia and probably Rio meta.

I fist thought of L340 when I saw the orange coloration but I see the pattern is a bit off for such number. the pattern is more similar to L129.
Are L340 an abberant coloration of some L129 coming from the Rio Tomo.
Regarding the other fish thought to be L270 or L316, I found the body shape and pattern more likely to belong to those 2 numbers rather than L199. So far all the L199 I have seen look really particular and could not been misidentified with L270 or L316...
Was the order a direct shipment from Colombia or did it went through an importator before coming to you??
Cheers

L199 and L316 at small sizes they can look really similar in the pattern and the color but L316 and L270 have smaller eyes...L316 much smaller.
I am sure that all species above comes from Colombia and yes I think L340 are a varity of L129. I am still waiting to see a species exactly matching the first pic of the LDA19.

All these fish are imported from Colombia, but I can`t specify the river or locality.
I think maybe you got a mix of L199 and L129 with some L340 among them
which are they the differences among L129 and L199 in juvenile fishes?
L340, which picture or fish is?

I have not breeding L129 yet so I dont know whats the different between them as youngsters compared to L199, at just to look at them it seams only to be the pattern that differ these two apart.
L129 link shows a fry around 20 days old or so...in that size almost all Hypancistrus species look the same.
L199 link shows a youngster maybe 6 months old or just above that...if they had been of equal age they would been much more similar.
L340 is the same as LDA19 but now when there have been imported quite many of L340 that we can see from the Aqualog and Datz pictures should be this species...we can also see the simularitys to L129.
The first pic showed and are still showed as LDA19 since it first occur in the trade

I am seeing the same as these but with a different pattern, some of yours even looks like a Peckoltia but I think it's the angle of the pic that fools me.
Male L199.
Female L199.
Fry 12 days L199.
Youngster 4 month L199.
