What fish would you put in a pond in FL?

I have a couple scenarios I'm real interested in hearing creative thoughts on, bearing in mind that I live in Florida (relevant to #1 and #2):

1. Backyard pond (just a kick-around idea at this point)... let's say it's 6'X10' and I can dig as deep as I want;
2. Container water garden on the lanai (screened porch)... let's say it's 35-50 gallons

Everyone does koi and goldfish... I'm guessing there's more interesting options. :)

...still can't convince my better half that the thing outside holding water is just a 12,000 gallon pond waiting to happen... who needs a "pool"? :D

How about Sailfin Mollies? They are found in the wild in Louisiana and Florida, and of course a pleco.

Really, any pleco that can cope with the coldest water temperature, which is probably not that bad.

What Clay was most likely referring to is that there are ferrel plecos in the florida waters, and those would be either or or closely related species.

Wild was actually refering to the Sailfin Mollies, but as for the pleco, I would just go with a common. I would say to try and get an albino so that you could see it, but it might get eaten by a predator. In addition, I doubt that being in the sun would be very good for it.
