Picky Bristlenose?

I bought a new bristlenose a couple of days ago, and he hasn't touched the algae wafer I've put in with him in Quarantine (no algae in the Q-tine tank) :?: I've left it in for a full 24 hours now, and will take it out tomorrow morning before it starts to go bad if he hasn't touched it by then.

It's an HBH veggie wafer. I put three river rocks covered in brown algae for him and they are pristine now, so I figure he munched all the algae on them pretty quick, but not the wafer...? There's also algae on the anubias for him if he decides he wants it.

For the most part tho, he is suckered onto the ornaments (which are free of algae, btw) and his little mouth is working.

Is it the algae wafer, is that particular brand not so favored by our little pleco friends? Do they just prefer the fresh stuff?

All fish have their own particular ideas of favourite food. I find that my bristlenoses just jump at the chance of a Hikari Algae wafer. But that's not to say that yours does...

Also, most fish will take some time to get used to new foods, so it may take a few days to get used to the new type of food. Remove any uneaten food after 24 hours...

Try some Zucchini (courgette for the UK audience) that you boil just ever so lightly (literally, bring the water to the boil, stick a slice of zucchini in, and bring back to boil, drain and rinse with cold water). Pierce it with a teaspoon to make it sink and put it in the tank.

thank you very much :) I will buy a zucchini next time I go grocery shopping and see if he is partial to it.
