Picky Bristlenose?

I bought a new bristlenose a couple of days ago, and he hasn't touched the algae wafer I've put in with him in Quarantine (no algae in the Q-tine tank)
I've left it in for a full 24 hours now, and will take it out tomorrow morning before it starts to go bad if he hasn't touched it by then.
It's an HBH veggie wafer. I put three river rocks covered in brown algae for him and they are pristine now, so I figure he munched all the algae on them pretty quick, but not the wafer...? There's also algae on the anubias for him if he decides he wants it.
For the most part tho, he is suckered onto the ornaments (which are free of algae, btw) and his little mouth is working.
Is it the algae wafer, is that particular brand not so favored by our little pleco friends? Do they just prefer the fresh stuff?
