I've tried to upload an 80 x 60 pixel JPEG by browsing to it, but just get error messages and a blank square where the pic should be. Am I using the wrong image format or something?

Sounds like it, the rules are it must be 80x80 pixels or smaller and the file size not larget than 16K (16384 bytes).

GIF and JPG file types are supported.

Am having what seem like more serious problems uploading a GIF (32 x 32, and 2KB). I'm getting the errors appear at the top of the page:

I uploaded an avatar to my profile from my local machine and it worked just fine (once I'd increased the JPEG compression ratio).

Edit: Actually, it didn't work right, because no avatar was showing when I went to read the post. Trying again to upload the same picture gives me the same error as the other posts describe. So it seems to be br0ken...

Jools, I would e-mail it to you but I don't know how to attach a pic to an e-mail.
